Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2015

About a month ago, Mark Badgley and James Mischka spent a few days in Cartagena, Colombia, and returned to New York inspired for their new collection. The designers have visited the prestigious fashion party in the city of Cartagena, where they were inspired by the outfits of local guests – glamorous evening dresses, bold colors and important jewelry. The hotel in which they stayed was the 450-year-old monastery filled with women “dressed to the nines,” said James Mischka. “Every girl looked like Sofia Vergara,” he added. 1950 Studebaker parked on the road outside the hotel also have fascinated the designers, persuading them to reference mid-century silhouettes.

In the collection you can see simple black gaucho pants paired with a white shirt, black crepe dress featuring a blouson top and lean skirt with paillettes and crystals in a delicate cascading white-and-pink floral pattern. Also you can see a knee-length, layered caftan in ivory tulle with baby sequins and gold metallic flocking. The collection ends with three gowns which clearly had Sofia Vergara in mind.
