Healthy Alternatives to Skin Care Products

Not of all us are built to have the same skin type which is why various skin care products like aveeno沐浴露 have different formulas to address these different issues. While these provide us with more options and give us a chance to customize our very own skincare routine, certain products we thought were an “investment” may actually take a toll on our wallets more than we realize.

Some products that can easily be found like aloe vera can treat tooth decay. That plant is popular for hair and skin care but there are aloe vera tooth gel products that help in fighting bacteria that cause cavities. To save up on cash, here are other effective and healthier alternatives to various skin care products:

Body Scrubs

Several body scrubs available on the market contain micro beads that help slough off dead skin cells when we exfoliate. This in turn reveals rejuvenated skin underneath these layers. While exfoliants are a weekly must for most, certain formulas contain beads that can aggravate skin layers causing redness, itchiness, and a slight burning sensation.

Instead of scouring through different body scrubs on the market, make your own with this handy body scrub!

Materials:

-½ cup granulated sugar (brown or white)

-½ cup coconut oil

-5 drops of essential oil

-1 small mason jar.

Instructions:

-Mix all ingredients in a mason jar. Finish off with 5 drops of any essential oil you prefer. During use, take as much as you need and gently scrub your skin with the mixture. Rinse well for silkier and healthier skin!

Lotions

Our skin needs to be hydrated after a shower to keep them from drying out. Lotions and creams are one of the most popular products available for sale but they can contain added chemicals that can clog up your pores and even cause irritation.

Replace your skin lotion with some natural alternatives like coconut, olive, or almond oil. Each of which contains antioxidants that keep your skin hydrated during the day. Another alternative is cocoa butter which can be used on dry elbows, knees, and feet since it quickly absorbs into the skin while also improving the appearance of scars. Cocoa butter is also a great alternative for people with sensitive skin types.

Toners

Applying toner to a newly washed face helps remove deep seated dirt while also balancing your skin’s pH levels. While toners don’t necessarily contain as much chemicals as other skin care products, healthier alternatives can still save a chunk from your budget while also providing the same results!

Mix organic apple cider vinegar (with mother) and water. Apply on skin with a cotton ball for brighter and firmer skin. The smell will eventually wear off once the vinegar dries!

Green tea is also another substitute for traditional toners. Simply brew a cup, allow it to cool, and apply on skin with cotton ball. If you want extra antibacterial properties, add a few drops of tea tree oil into the tea before use.

Face masks

Weekly face masks are one of the best ways to unwind after a stressful day at work. While there are numerous sheet and clay masks available on the market, creating your very own skin treatment can easily save you some cash while also adding a little fun in your routine!

Create homemade face masks with a oatmeal, yogurt, honey, and egg whites!

Materials:

-⅓ cup oatmeal

-½ cup hot water (not boiling)

-2 tablespoons yogurt

-2 tablespoons honey

-1 small egg white

Instructions:

-Prepare oatmeal according to instructions. Allow it to settle for 2-3 minutes.

-Mix in yogurt, honey, and egg white

-Apply thin layer on your skin and let it settle for 15 minutes.

-Rinse off with warm water for softer and more radiant skin!

Another alternative would be a Yogurt Citrus Face mask

Materials:

-2 tablespoons yogurt

-Freshly squeezed juice from ½  sliced orange

-1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

-Slice an orange in half and squeeze out the juice in a bowl. Add yogurt and honey and mix into a paste.

-Apply a thin layer on your face and let it sit for 5 minutes.

-Rinse off to reveal softer skin with tighter pores!

There are several benefits to using organic products on our skin. One is that it does not contain any added chemicals that can cause irritation and other side effects. Another is that it comes at an affordable price while also adding a bit of fun into our daily and weekly routine. While there are countless of ready-made skin care products available on the market, the perks of making DIY skin care products allows us to save money while also creating wonderful gifts for our friends!
