Spring Essential: A Chambray Shirt

Hey my beautiful ladies! If you have to choose only a few fashion staples that every woman should have in her wardrobe, according to me, a good chambray shirt should be at the top of your list.

Chambray isn’t really a new trend and it’s been around for quite a while now, but is often confused with denim although they’re not exactly the same fabric. A chambray is a plain weave fabric woven with a colored yarn in the warp and a white yarn in the weft. Like chambray, denim is made with a colored yarn in the warp and white in the weft, but is woven in a twill construction. The chambray warp and weft threads will alternate one over the other, while denim’s warp thread will go over two threads in the weft before going under one. Typically, you will notice a lighter color to the underside of a denim fabric, whereas the underside of chambray will appear much more similar to its face side.

Now when you know the difference between chambray and denim, let’s go back to the chambray shirt. What makes chambray so cool is that it gives you that casual off-duty look you’d get from denim but it feels so much softer compared to denim and it actually feels like linen. That is why chambray is definitely a must-have in any woman’s closet. Chambray shirts are so cute and so versatile. Aside from the fact that you can wear it during any season, there are also different ways that you can wear this piece. To get this look, all you need to do is make sure your chambray shirt and your jeans are of two very different colors (one light wash and the other dark wash) to get that two-toned look. It’s simple and great as a casual outfit any day.

This look is very chic and is great if you want something feminine but not too girly. Wear a chambray shirt open on top of any dress and instantly give it a cool, casual vibe.
