The Lace Trend Is Staying Around For Spring/Summer 2015

Once reserved for doilies, princess dresses, and ruffled party socks, lace trend has enjoyed a high-fashion comeback. Brides may be the most common to wear lace, but anyone can wear it this season. This spring there is a whole new concept about lace that makes it more wearable for the common woman. Lace is always a big theme on any red carpet and no wonder: it’s romantic, classic and ultra feminine. And right now, your fashion blogger and street style favorites are mixing lace with slouchy silhouettes, pairing lace and leather, or adding casual kicks to a girly dress to reinvent the trend for now.

We bet you own at least one lace piece (probably more, right?), so scroll down through this gallery for 17 modern ways to wear your old favorite, plus I’ve rounded up some of my best fashion tips to help you rock this trend. Follow them and you are sure to be top of the fashion pack this season.

Pale wash and distressed denim take the prim look of lace down a notch. Dress it back up again with heels if you like, but the combo is equally as cool with sneakers or flats.

A big trend this season is colored lace. Stray from black and white lace dresses and head for bright reds, blues, yellows and pinks. As colored lace makes quite a statement, combine these dresses with neutral accessories.

To avoid looking like you have just stepped out of your grandmother’s closet, stick to one lace garment (like a top or skirt) or small accessories (like a clutch and shoes).

Better quality lace is more suited for evening wear and special occasions. Longer length dresses and gowns can be quite elegant. Black lace is great for creating drama, but don’t be afraid to try white or cream lace either.

Keep jewellery to a minimum. Let your lace do the talking and save the chunky necklaces and arm parties for your neutral sweaters.

If the lace look is too full-on for your personal taste, mix it up with contrasting textures. If you are unsure of how to wear lace dresses, add a leather for a tougher look or a denim jacket for more casual look.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with lace. Whether it is a staple part of your wardrobe or for special occasions only, lace is an elegant and on-trend choice of fabric. What are your best tips on how to wear lace?
