Hey my beautiful ladies! Have you heard that one of ours favorite fashion designers, Tadashi Shoji, has released his new collection? If you still haven’t keep on reading because today, I’m bringing to you the dresses from his Resort 2017 and I’m sure that you will fall in love with all of them.
Tadashi Shoji has been in the fashion business for more than 30 years, but first he started out as a painter. After moving to Los Angeles from his native Japan in the seventies, he awakened his life-long passion, fashion design, in which he also earned a degree. Soon after university, Tadashi began working at a prominent clothing manufacturer and quickly climbed the ranks. Noticing that women had few choices when it came to special occasion dresses in the contemporary market, he launched his own collection in 1982. Today, the Tadashi Shoji collection is globally recognized and loved by devoted women ranging from busy working mothers to red carpet gracing celebrities.
Unsurprisingly, art is a consistent source of inspiration for Tadashi. For this collection, he looked to artist Pierre Bonnard for inspiration: The French post-impressionist artist is known for his use of sweet, saturated hues, but he also painted from memory, so there’s a dreamy, intuitive quality to his work. The result is a collection of lightweight, lighthearted pieces, more youthful than in seasons past. From off-the-shoulder necklines to plunging slits, from asymmetrical cuts to unexpected cut-outs and lace embroideries, the collection has it all indeed, and urges you to wear those trends all at once. Soft lavenders, pinks and gradients of blue punctuated the palette.
