How to Stay Chic When You Are Expecting

Hey my beautiful ladies! Being pregnant is like the best feeling a woman can experience, knowing that you are bringing a new life into the world is just so exciting. Pregnancy takes its tolls on most women and they often forget to be stylish. But being pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t keep up with the trends and feel fashionable. According to some mothers, the key to dressing modern and sexy during pregnancy is to pick out the trends you like and adapt them to your new body.

When you’re starting to show, there are two ways you can go: dress to hide it or dress to embrace it. In most cases, I think the best choice is dress to embrace it. So in conjunction with that idea, embracing your baby bump will make you look more like the modern mom-to-be: excited, sexy, and still stylish.

If you’re expecting at this time of year, chances are you’ll be keen to keep your wardrobe super-comfortable, without losing that summertime chic we all look forward to.

So, below are a few style tips to help you stay chic when you are expecting.

Add some color – Everyone knows that black is slimming – but Don’t limit yourself. You don’t have to always dress in neutrals and blacks. You will feel a little happier too with a little color!

Get the Basics – You don’t need to spend a lot of money on maternity gear (just get a few basic pieces like maternity jeans and leggings) and you can layer these items with blazers and sweaters that you already have in your closet.

Jersey-Fabric Pieces – The jersey fabric allows room for stretching (your growing baby) so you can literally wear this all through pregnancy period. Styling it up with bold accessories, purses and shoes would determine the kinda look you trying to achieve.

Go Skinny – If you enjoyed wearing skinny jeans before you were an expecting mama, don’t be afraid to don tight-fitting pants now just because you’re pregnant. Many maternity lines are now making stretchy, super-comfy (and chic!) skinny jeans and leggings that will fit and flaunt your new curves.

Avoid baggy clothes – I know that Reaching for bigger clothes to hide your size sounds like a good idea, but it only contributes to a bulky look. Instead, slim down your silhouette and emphasize the features that aren’t expanding with snug-sleeved tops, skinnier pants, and button-down shirts or blazers (from your prepregnancy wardrobe) left unbuttoned.
