When I think of spring/summer staples that every girl should have in her closet, dresses are the first thing that comes to my mind. They can be found in various styles, from casual to formal, as well as from mini, midi to maxi ones.
For me, swing dresses are officially the most comfortable piece of clothing to wear in the entire world. These dresses are loose fitting and perfect for warmer days. But don’t let that fool you – they are still incredibly stylish and can be worn to any and all events, whether it’s a formal dinner or a casual day outing. Pair it with sneakers, sandals, heels, ankle boots — pretty much any shoe in your closet will work! You can even layer your look with anything, from an embellished jacket to a blanket scarf.
I know that many girls are hesitant to wear this type of dress because they think that they may look too bulky when wearing it. Well, in this post I will give you some tips on how to make swing dresses work for all body types.
Use softer fabric – The swing dress makes the midriff of a person look a little bit fuller than it is. One of the ways you can counter this is by making the pleat part of the swing dress out of soft fabric that has a straighter fall to ensure that you don’t look bulky.
Play with the pleats – The swing dress comes with a lot of pleats in the lower part of the dress. A slightly broader or narrower pleat can make a difference in the way the dress falls on your waistline and your hips.
Vary the waistline – Some of us have slimmer midriff while others feel conscious of being heavy around the waist. To ensure that the swing dress will work for your body type, do focus on the waistline. A higher or lower waistline can distract from these fault and make the silhouette of the swing dress more flattering to the wearer.
Belt the dress correctly – A belt of the right width and on the right place would make all the difference to the way the swing dress looks on you.
