Skin care and skin products are improving along with technology these days. One of the most common forms of skin issues among women is a dull complexion. A lot of expensive products claim to brighten complexions, but fail to do so. Instead, they provide an overpriced product that barely moisturizes. As a woman who suffers from a dull complexion, as well as sunspots and post-acne dark spots, I decided I would go on the quest for the perfect skin brightener for the perfect price.
I am one of those consumers who sticks to a certain brand, but this quest for the perfect skin brightener made me stumble across the Danish brand known as Ole Henriksen. Upon a little bit of research, I learned that Ole Henriksen was a brand synonymous with Hollywood-renowned skin care. With that said, I jumped on the opportunity to purchase the Ole Henriksen “Enlighten Me Pigment Lightening Serum.”
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Foreign brand, Hollywood-renowned, must be expensive, right? Nope! In fact it’s only $48 for an ounce, but the product lasted me a good 5 months, which is cheaper than what I spend on my other normal skin products per month. Of course, I was a little skeptical at first because it seemed like quite a loss if it didn’t work, but it turned into a really great investment.
First off, the serum, which has a watery texture and dark honey color, is all-natural. So if you’re an organic nut like me, it’s a solid choice when compared to chemical-filled products. The active ingredients in the skin brightening serum are Ester-C, lactic acid, lemon extract, and mulberry extract.
My main skin concern was post-breakout acne spots that were noticeably darker than my normal skin tone. The night I purchased the Ole Henriksen serum, I began applying it regularly every night after my toner and before my moisturizer. Since the bottle has a pump top, it provides an easy measuring tool for application. I used only two pumps, which provided generous cover for my entire face and neck.
At first, the serum stings slightly, but it subsides within a few moments. Before applying my moisturizer, I let the serum dry and sink into my skin. Once it dried, my skin felt a bit tighter and firmer, a bonus benefit that was not listed on the back of the product box. The back of the bottle suggests faithful use, which I did. And after about a week, I began seeing the difference. My skin was becoming more even and my darkened acne spots were becoming more and more like my normal skin tone, proving this product effective. My skin also developed a natural rosy blush on my cheeks.
The only downside to the product is the smell. It has a very natural smell that is not like many other beauty products that are infused with artificial perfumes. Also, there is a maximum to how much it will clear up. It will not make your skin perfect, but it will help. My acne spots did become lighter and much less noticeable, but did not disappear completely like I had expected before using the product.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the product and I’m continuing to use it today. Over the toll of five months, my skin looks firmer, younger, more refreshed, and much brighter.
I also suggest pairing the Enlighten Me Pigment Lightening Serum with the Ole Henriksen Vitamin Plus Mattifying Crème on top. Additionally, cheaper prices for Ole Henriksen products can be found at eBay and Amazon.
