The list of possible services at your local day spa can be quite long, but if it’s lacking something you’re looking for – dermaplaning, body waxing, or manicures, for example – then it simply isn’t for you, even if it’s beautiful and clean otherwise.

Location
Day spas are meant to help you look and feel your best. They also tend to help you destress. But if you have to drive a long distance, find street parking, or navigate narrow back roads to get there, you might not want to visit it.
When choosing a day spa, take a look at its location on a map. You can even use Google Street View to get an idea of what’s around it, what the neighborhood looks like, and where parking might be available if it isn’t indicated on their website or on social media.
The one thing a salon cannot change easily is its location, so it’s very important that where it works well for you.
Pricing
Don’t expect a reputable day spa to be cheap. It is safe to equate cheap with undesirable in this case!
On the same vein, their pricing should not be outrageous, either, unless they’re offering premium services to every spa guest, or they’re using highly specialized serums and products in their services.
If prices aren’t what you’d expect to pay elsewhere, it may be a red flag.
Skill and Expertise
You don’t want just anyone performing facial extractions, waxing your eyebrows, or providing a body treatment. You want the best possible esthetician working with you so that you leave with the results you’re expecting.
Your day spa’s estheticians should be licensed with your state, which requires they to complete a certain type of training program to be eligible. But undergoing training doesn’t guarantee skill!
Find out if the day spa’s estheticians are highly skilled by reading reviews online from other guests. Lots of positive reviews mean the estheticians know what they’re doing and get good, consistent results.
Salon Offerings
Finally, when looking for a day spa, find one that is a true one-stop shop for all your beauty needs. Day spas that offer salon services, like hair coloring, hair styling, and more mean you don’t have to drive to multiple places to take care of yourself.
This is a convenience that many people are unwilling to compromise on. If it’s important to you, find out if the day spa near you offers additional services beyond the basic day spa menu.
