For Nina Ricci Resort 2015 Collection, Peter Copping plays with the idea of appropriating elements from different global cultures and adding them into the Ricci mix of urbane elegance and ruffled femininity.
Inspired from the Cuban ladies in the ’50s, the designer has created magical bold floral printed designs, like tulips, daisies or old-fashioned roses. From America, he lifted the motorcycle jacket and overalls. A chic white-on-black fleck print is inspired by the white dot makeup of the Makonde tribe people of Mozambique and Tanzania. The brilliant marled summer-weight tweed is inspired by the baskets in a Brazilian hippie market. The beautiful sundresses and T-shirts in panels of different cotton lace patterns, meanwhile, evoke festive Mexican clothing, while a simple pleat-bib shirt with hook-and-eye fastening has its roots in Amish dressing.
